Rooms and common spaces

The Ecumenical Residence is located in the heart of Heidelberg's Old Town directly below Heidelberg Castle and opposite the Theological Seminary. It has room for about 25 people, with a small number of rooms also occupied as double rooms.

The rooms are spread over two floors and each floor has 2 WCs and two showers. There is a large shared kitchen/dining room, a second, smaller kitchenette, a chapel that is also used as a living area (for film evenings, for example), an in-house library with workstations, rooms for washing and drying laundry, a garden with volleyball court and a bicycle shed.

Moving in and out arrangements

Move-in and move-out must take place on working days (Mon-Fri) during the business hours of the Ecumenical Institute (Mon 9am-4pm, Tue-Fri 9am-1pm). An appointment for handing over the room must be arranged independently with the secretariat.

Equipment of the common rooms:

• Fully equipped kitchen incl. crockery, cutlery, pots and pans
• Hoover and cleaning materials
• Video projector for joint film evenings, etc.
• Music equipment
• Barbecue
• Washing machine (for a fee) and tumble dryer (free of charge)
• Volleyball net and balls

Rooms:

We rent rooms in three sizes:

• Small Room: 9-11 sqm : 255 €/month; we offer 16 small rooms
• Medium room: 13-17 sqm: 326 €/month; we offer 6 medium sized rooms
• Large room: 20 sqm: 414 €/month: we offer 2 large rooms

In order to give more applicants the opportunity to live in the Ecumenical Residence, the large room is regularly rented out as a double room. In this case, the room is shared with a person of the same sex for one semester. After one semester, there is the right to move into another room in the house that becomes available. The rent for a place in a double room is: 220 € per person.

The price of the rent includes the price of breakfast, which is provided Mon - Fri during the semester.
